Higher education based on cooperation and interdisciplinarity has a key role in a global sustainable development

Purpose To highlight that, for higher education (HE) to fulfil its role and provide societies with the required knowledge competencies that will enable a sustainable future, through research, campus operations, it needs cooperate promote interdisciplinarity within sector society at large. Design/methodology/approach This study is follow-up on author´s presentation, as President International Association of Universities (IAU), IAUP triennial conference 2021. It not presenting outcomes specific research project but rather personal experience reflections challenges opportunities debated global HE conferences, national international seminars, IAU publications surveys. Findings There are many when comes developing capitalizing social responsibility development. However, there lack discussion internal institutional responsibilities support societal value beyond sector. Originality/value view author builds long scientist academic leader.
